Voids are unique laboratories to study galaxy evolution given their low density, early evolutionary state and relatively simple geometry. Finding them, however, is not trivial. Starting from the basic definition of a void as an expanding region we can identify not only voids but their internal hierarchy. In this talk will present a void finder method that can be used to robustly identify voids and their associated walls and filaments in a fully hierarchical way and can be applied to simulated and real data.
