Using Satellite Kinematics to Constrain Halo Masses and Cosmology
Invited Talk: Frank van den Bosch
I present a novel method for using satellite kinematics extracted from large galaxy redshift surveys to constrain the galaxy-halo connection, the orbital anisotropy and radial profile of satellite galaxies, as well as cosmological parameter. After demonstrating the power of this technique using detailed mock data sets, I present results from a recent analysis of SDSS data.
I show that the inferred orbital anisotropy is in excellent agreement with predictions from our LCDM paradigm, and that the cosmological S8 tension is closely related to baryonic effects.
